Podcast/Video Interviews by Stephen Ibaraki

A Chat with Dr.-Ing. Stefan Hengesbach: CEO of QuiX Quantum - leading the company's mission to deliver the world's first universal photonic quantum computer to a customer site and to build the path toward utility-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing.

This week, Stephen Ibaraki has an exclusive interview with Dr.-Ing. Stefan Hengesbach.

Dr.-Ing. Stefan HengesbachDr.-Ing. Stefan Hengesbach is CEO of QuiX Quantum, a European deep-tech company building photonic quantum computing systems based on integrated photonics. Since taking over the CEO role, Stefan has led QuiX Quantum through a major transformation: from a university spin-off focused on photonic integrated circuits into a full-stack photonic quantum computing company.

With a background in photonics, laser technology and optical engineering, Stefan combines deep technical expertise with the leadership required to scale breakthrough hardware into real-world systems. Under his leadership, QuiX Quantum is on the way to deliver Carina, the world's first universal photonic quantum computer, developed for the German Aerospace Center's Quantum Computing Initiative.

Stefan is driving QuiX Quantum's long-term mission to build utility-scale fault-tolerant quantum computers based on photonics. His focus is on turning complex quantum technology into deployable systems, building a strong European industrial position, and demonstrating that photonics can become one of the most relevant architectures for practical quantum computing.

In the podcast, Stefan will share his perspective on building a deep-tech company, scaling quantum hardware beyond the lab, and why photonic quantum computing could become a critical foundation for the next era of computing.
