This week, Stephen Ibaraki has an exclusive interview with Dr. Karndee Leopairote.

Dr. Karndee leads a future foresight team at FutureTales Lab by MQDC to study, analyze, and identify signals and drivers of change, and equip stakeholders with knowledge and decision-making tools for planning toward better futures at the corporate, city, and national levels.

She has formulated and launched the FutureTales Lab by MQDC to be the forefront of the foresight practice and a platform for industry collaboration. The center's forward-looking reports cover a broad spectrum of human life, from the futures of mental health, wellness, education, work, sustainability, to the Metaverse, artificial intelligence, and the space economy.

Dr. Karndee is also serving as a board member of the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) and Supervisory Board of Director of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA).

"What we try to do here is not to predict the future, but to understand it. What is the most plausible future may not be our preferred one. That's why it is our job, as city developers, to understand the pain points in different futures, both the negative and more positive ones. This should help us to prevent negative consequences and proactively steer ourselves toward a positive future, instead of reacting to what happens around us."
