CIPS CONNECTIONSPodcast/Video Interviews by Stephen IbarakiA Chat with L.R. Fox on Impact, Innovation, and Building a Better Future This week, Stephen Ibaraki has an exclusive interview with L. R. Fox.
Through NEXT Global Capital, Fox has recently expanded into revolutionizing critical infrastructure through the acquisition of a hospital and as the co-owner of a bank alongside former White House staff member, Ashley Bell, and Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr. NEXT is also among the first investors in the newest tech venture from Emmett Shear, former CEO of Twitch and interim CEO of OpenAI, further reflecting Fox's commitment to supporting visionary leaders who are shaping the future of technology and society. Fox launched his first company, WhiteFox Defense, while navigating the foster care system - an experience that shaped his ability to operate in highly regulated spaces, both personally and professionally. His journey solidified a passion for delivering effective solutions to emerging markets and critical societal issues. During his time in foster care, Fox witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of limited access to effective family planning options. This realization led him to establish NEXT Life Sciences and spearhead the development of Plan A™. Historically, the burden of family planning has disproportionately fallen on women, yet today, men are more eager than ever to take an active role. Fox envisions Plan A™ as the first choice couples consider when planning their pregnancies. Fox also recognized another troubling pattern among his peers in foster care - many of the most talented individuals ended up in dire circumstances, with some tragically no longer here. With over 100 million orphans worldwide, he saw an opportunity to invest in those with extraordinary potential. This vision inspired him to establish the Oasis Academy, designed to provide transformational opportunities to individuals whose talents shine brightest but whose circumstances have held them back. Despite his young age, Fox's impact has already been profound. No challenge is too daunting-what others fear in business and philanthropy, he embraces with enthusiasm. And he's only just getting started. |
