Sam Karunya was born Deaf in India. He attended Gallaudet University, majored and graduated with honors in Computer Information Systems. He worked for the Federal agency and private sectors (e.g. Interpreting Services and Telecommunication Relay Service Management).

Sam currently works as IT at the Department of Treasury. He works with DC's Government and the National Disabilities Institute and volunteers to ensure that Deaf people and those with disabilities have full access to education and technologies and get support on tax and financial issues, on the American Disabilities Act, inclusion and diversity issues.

In 2015, he combined compassion for others with understanding of business, technology and sustainability development, to launch the non-profit, Global Deaf Aid Foundation, Inc. to provide the best educational, employment and leadership opportunities for Deaf children and children with other Disabilities. In 2019, Sam launched a for profit business World in Sign, LLC with 3 partners. WIS' goal is to empower people worldwide by providing them access to non-emergency and emergency management alert system using their own way of communication with telecommunication relay services. WIS participated in the ITU conference in 2019 and was a finalist in its World Global SME Awards for the most scalable Solution.

Adeline Aileo is French. She works for World In Sign (WIS) as an Executive Assistant and PR director and for the Pennsylvania State University (PSU) as a French instructor.

She taught herself the French Sign Language (LSF) manual alphabet when she was 9 years old and decided she would work among the deaf community when she will grow up and she did.

As she worked as an LSF interpreter in Toulouse, France, she got involved in a project focused on Kindergartens for the deaf led by 3 American professors. She worked on the project as an interpreter LSF-English and cultural mediator for French culture and deaf French culture. One professor invited her for a PhD in early childhood education at PSU and she agreed. She passed candidacy but her desires were elsewhere, she wanted to go back to working with the deaf community and sign language.

WIS allows her to work daily in LSF, American Sign Language, International Signs, French, English and German. Working with and learning languages and cultures is where she feels the most comfortable.

She has a Master degree in LSF interpretation and French-English translation from Toulouse-Le Mirail University and, a BA in Linguistics from Nancy 2 University.

Gary Campbell, interpreter

Gary received his BA degree in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis University and his Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Gallaudet University. He is an American Sign Language interpreter and has been certified with RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) for many years, CI/CT (Certificate of Interpretation/Certificate of Transliteration), and he has his Texas BEI Master certification (Board for Evaluation of Interpreters).
